Sesame Chicken was always a favorite of mine growing up when we would go to an Asian restaurant. Since we never made anything like it at home, it was always a special treat when going out to eat. Something about the sweet sauce just always has me drooling. This Cast Iron Sesame Chicken and Broccoli is not only easy, but it is so much healthier than going out to eat. Everything is cooked right in the cast iron skillet to make it a one dish meal.
This Cast Iron Sesame Chicken and Broccoli all starts with the sauce. It is the same recipe I used in my sesame cauliflower and chickpeas. The base is just a mix of ketchup and coconut aminos or soy suace. This is the start to the delicious sweet and salty combo. Honey and a little coconut sugar are added for additional sweetness to balance out the spice of some chili garlic sauce.
Once the sauce is done, it is time to cook the chicken. I seared the chicken on the cast iron skillet with the sauce on each side to create that delicious golden color and flavor. Then all you have to do is add the broccoli and place it in the oven. Once the chicken is done, it is time to serve.
I serve this dish on top of rice, but you could also serve it with rice noodles or with greens. When serving you want to add plenty of extra sesame sauce because that is the best part in my opinion. The chicken turns out nice and juicy, and the broccoli gets a delicious char.
This recipe seriously reminds me of something I use to get from a restaurant. Sesame chicken use to my absolute favorite, and I love the flavor the cast iron skillet gives. The best part of this dish is how easy it is. Plus, I can make as much sauce as I want because I love to dip all the things in it. If you love a good sesame chicken recipe, be sure to give this recipes a try.
Enjoy!
