A few years ago I became obsessed with a gingerbread latte from a local coffee shop. It was my go to coffee order all through the holiday season. My friend and I became addicted and buying coffee can get a little bit pricey. I decided to take matters into my own and try to recreate the nectar from heaven as I like to call it. That is how this Honey Gingerbread Syrup recipe came to be.
The gingerbread syrup is refined sugar free because I made it with local honey. Honey blends in with the spices so beautifully and ensures the syrup is plenty of sweet. Plus, honey has many nutritional benefits all season long! Then you just have to allow the syrup to simmer with all the delicious spices.
Spices for the syrup
Ginger: Adds a mellow kick of spice with a immune boosting punch
Cloves: Adds a warm wintery spice with a subtle sweetness
Allspice: Another classic winter spice similar to cinnamon
Star of Anise: Adds a hint of a sweet licorice flavor
Cinnamon: A classic spice that adds a sweet and subtle woody flavor with a hint of citrus
This syrup will keep in the fridge a for the season. My favorite way to serve it is in ice coffee or a golden milk latte. You could also use it as a syrup over waffles or what ever creative way you find to use it. This syrup can also be an incredible gift for friends and family for the holiday season. What is better then a homemade gift!?
The Honey Gingerbread Syrup has some incredible immune boosting and nutritional benefits. It not only makes your house smell amazing, but it is a delicious way to level up beverages this time of year. If your a gingerbread fan, then be sure to give this simple syrup a try!
