Hot Honey BBQ Chicken Sandwich

Move over Chickfila because I just created the ultimate chicken sandwich. This hot honey BBQ chicken sandwich has a combo of flavors that will make you taste buds have a party. Chicken sandwiches are definitely one of my go to meals when I want something very satisfying. And there is no better chicken sandwich then Chickfila in my opinion, especially because of all the amazing sauce options. But then this homeade version was made, and now all bets are off. This is the ultimate sandwich. Plus, it is a little healthier thanks to not being fried.  The chicken has a crispy BBQ crust topped with a drizzle of hot honey.  It is an absolute must make if you are a chicken sandwich fan.

Ingredients for the BBQ chicken

Ingredients

This BBQ chicken sandwich starts with a chicken breast covered in the BBQ coating. The coating is made from BBQ chips. You can use any brand of chips you like, but I am partial to Siete. Not only are they an Austin brand, but the ingredients just can’t be beat. The kettle cooked BBQ chips are one of my favorite chips ever, and they work perfectly for this recipe. After the chicken is coated, then it is pan fried on a cast iron skillet and baked in the oven. Then you serve the chicken on a toasted bun with lettuce and tomato. The finishing touch is a generous drizzle of hot honey. The hot honey and BBQ flavor combo were just meant to be. They both have a delicious flavor combination of sweet and spicy, which allows them to blend without being over powering.

Inside of BBQ chicken sandwich

I have my fair share of favorite recipes, but this will be one of my go to when I am in the mood for a satisfying sweet and savory combo. I have plenty of chicken recipes on my website, but this one sure will be hard to beat. It will be a great recipe to impress your friends and family, and it really isn’t super labor intensive. All you need is a good cast iron or oven safe skillet and you are good to go. It would be delicious paired with my jerk seasoned sweet potato, regular fries, or any roasted veggie. Hope y’all enjoy, and I would bet on whether you will think it is Chickfila worthy.
